Ahh!  Tax Season has arrived...  So this year and next are looking quite "special" (I use the term loosely) for us artist types.

This week, while prepping for my appointment with my beloved tax lady, I thought it might be fun to share a few resources I've collected over the years which have helped me in this oh so joyous task of preparation.

  • Riley Associates- P.C.     Clear checklists are available to help you get organized before meeting with an accountant or filing on your own

  • Mile IQ (feel free to use my affiliate link here)  Okay, I love this app-- If you travel by car for work, auditions, etc. this app will save you so much time.  It basically tracks every drive you make and you easily swipe left or right to categorize business or personal drives- within each you can also classify mileage for commuting vs. between offices, charitible miles, etc. When it comes time to file taxes, just pull up the reports for each month, so you'll have your exact #s for business vs commuting vs personal miles

  • Actors Equity Tax Resources  At this link you'll find hours of video resources detailing all the specifics you need to know- definitely watch and learn if you file on your own or if you go to a tax expert who is not as knowledgeable re: entertainment taxes-- we are a rare breed and have slightly different rules that apply

And please if you have other resources that have helped you this year, or even in past years, please share in the comments, so that we can all be a bit more savvy in our record-keeping for 2018!

Happy Filing!

anks for sharing the article, and more importantly, your personal experience mindfully using our emotions as data about our inner state and knowing when it’s better to de-escalate by taking a time out are great tools. Appreciate you reading and sharing your story since I can certainly relate and I think others can to
